The Ford Transit Cutaway chassis comes stock with a larger center console that has a place for the Brake Controller. Ford also makes a smaller center console that will give you some more leg room to move to/from the cab and the back of the RV. Keep in mind, the new console is shorter in depth and it does eliminate the front 2 little cubbies, one of which I was using to hold my phone. It also doesn't have a standard place to install the Brake Controller. If you don't plan on towing anything you can tuck the brake controller behind the console. Keep in mind if you do that you still need to have it connected or you will get an error on your dash. You also want to make sure you secure it so it doesn’t rattle. I plan on towing a trailer and I needed the brake controller, so I had to figure out where it would fit within the new console and still have access to it. You really only have one location in that console where it would fit since the back side of the brake controller box is large. I placed it directly under the cup holders and it’s still accessible. There are a few tools you will need to do this install: 1. A set of plastic automotive trim removal tools. They have tons of different sets on Amazon. You don’t need a huge expensive set there are plenty in the $10 range. This is also something handy to have anyway to help remove other types of covers on the Transit. With them being plastic you have less of a chance of marring up any trim pieces with a metal screwdriver. 2. 9/32 socket, 5/16 socket, 5/16 open end wrench, wire cutters, and a sharp razor knife. To get the new console you can order the part from TascaParts. com. The part number is: LK4Z-61044F58-AB. It was $130.50 plus tax and shipping.
